Building off the success of their bi-monthly Taste of Africa Dinners, Mola Foods will launch Taste of Africa Lunch every Thursday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., beginning Thursday, August 11. These lunches will include a choice of one of two dishes from Africa, each from a different country, and an African dessert. Lunch may be enjoyed at Mola Foods, which offers seating for approximately 40+, or picked up and enjoyed elsewhere.
According to Mola Foods Owner LaFortune Jeannette Djabea, the rationale behind Taste of Africa Lunch satisfies two business objectives. “It provides more opportunities for people to experience African food, and it allows me to focus my takeout business primarily on Taste of Africa.”
Previous to Taste of Africa Lunch, Mola Foods offered daily takeout service, which Djabea said was hard to predict. With Taste of Africa Lunch, people make their purchases online in advance. Regular takeout service is still available, although it also must be purchased online in advance .
“This way, I am not cooking everyday and ending up with waste,” she said. “I want my food to be as fresh as possible for my customers, and I don’t want any food waste.”
Taste of Africa Lunch can also be customized for businesses. “I’ve had businesses approach me for special lunches, which can be perfect for all-staff meetings or other formal kinds of working meetings where lunch is provided,” she said.
Describing her food as “a fusion of African and European cuisine with mouth-watering flavors from Africa,” Djabea cited a deeper purpose behind Mola Foods. “I want to reveal the diversity, deliciousness, and versatility of African food in a modern context,” she said. “My food is approachable, vibrant, and flavorful, and I hope it encourages people to open their hearts to African culture, too.”
Taste of Africa Lunch begins on Thursday, August 11 from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. Priced at $25 per person, tickets may be purchased in advance at molafoods.com/africalunch.
